Production company choice

How will your film be exhibited?  In the most realistic manner, I think the only way for my film to be exhibited would be off of YouTube. I think that as well is the easiest way to publicize my film. It would be almost impossible to get my film on bigger cites such as Netflix, Theaters, or even Hulu. I honestly have no problem with displaying my film on YouTube because it is a platform anyone and everyone can access. Unlike things such as Netflix, where everyone needs an account with a subscription to even be able to view the film.  How will your choice of production company affect the way audiences engage with your film?  My choice of production company will affect the way audiences engage with my film by giving them a easier way to access it. If I place my film on YouTube I will most likely receive more views and subscriptions because of the fact that it is visible to everyone. Theoretically if my film was only in theaters then it would only be visible to a certain amount of those w

What am I trying to achieve?

What are you trying to achieve with your story? I am trying to achieve a very interesting film, that will be good enough to make people want to watch it. I not only want people to watch it but I want to be satisfied with my creation and know I did my best, as well as put a lot of effort and determination into it. I also do not want it to be basic or generic either, I want it to be mysterious, but yet scary. I want you to be able to question what is going to happen, and not assume. With typical horror films they always give me a chance to assume what is going to happen next, this is not what I want for mine. While watching my film you need to be prepared to expect the unexpected.  Do you plan to produce with a large studio or a smaller, independent company? Why? I plan to produce my film with a smaller independent company. I chose small and independent because I feel as if this is best, in regards to the fact that I have never done this before. I have done research and it says that smal

What is the genre of my film?

What are the basic genre conventions of my movie (themes, style, characters, etc.)?  Starting off with the actual genre I am going to be working on, horror. Based off of my research I have come across the theme which would be taking an object or a person who is not typically feared and turn it into something scary. This would include dolls, clowns, a little girl, red balloons, etc. This is an affect of making the "usual unusual". Even myself tends to be afraid of clowns and dolls and im not sure if it is because the image on how  they are portrayed in movies/films. Now for style, horror films usually include scenes of violence such as death or serious injury. As well as before, it includes evil characters or things that have been haunted.  What do the titles normally look like for films in my genre? (style, size, font, etc.) I have noticed the titles usually have a large font that takes up most of the screen and is usually red. Some even have the letters large dripping with

Research

I have began my research on horror movie film openings. As well as film openings in general because there is a large variety as of what I can do for mine. I have noticed they tend to have a lot of action from the beginning. I was expecting it to be very subtle and only give a brief idea of what the film could be about. One of them was an opening for the movie "SCREAM" and it is the man chasing a woman with a knife.  Now onto how this changes my film opening. I now have to re think about what I am going to create because I had the wrong idea. That is okay though because this is what the research part is for! I am glad I did it and now have a better idea of what to create. Looking at others films not only gives me an idea of what to create but it also shows me a large variety of others and endless possibilities.  Doing research as well has given me more motivation. At first my thoughts were very scattered and I honestly had no idea what I was working on. This has helped me get

Jazlynn Questions!!

What kind of movie am I trying to make? I was thinking of doing a mysterious/horror film opening. Based off of my research they are typically dark, Smokey, or contain red lights. I believe this is my best option because I like horror movies and already have an idea on my film opening. After watching many of these movies it can be very beneficial to my project. What are the settings or locations of other films in my genre? Where and when are they often shot? Settings of horror films would include cabins, forests, cemeteries, abandoned buildings, etc. I would typically do a cemetery because of the fact that it  creates a sense of mystery and gives you a instant idea that the film  would have to do with something scary. Including the fact that it is in a cemetery gives the idea that it has to do with death or loss of one.  How are different social groups are normally represented/portrayed, stereotyped, etc. in your genre? Different social groups ae normally stereotyped with a killer. Whe
